My Purpose and Mission For CT.ca
To help promote the various resources available online that will help guide those who wish to learn more about the Catholic faith. Through the different methods of study, it is hoped that one can come to a definitive understanding of what the Catholic Church really teaches and why.
There exist many misconceptions and faulty interpretations of Catholic doctrines and traditions in Protestant denominations and in secular society. It is with this in mind that gives great importance for Catholics to help our brothers and sisters in Christ from all denominations to know the truth and the facts concerning these doctrines and traditions.
The first step, I believe when defending the Church to a non Catholic is to show them in the bible the undeniable leadership authority given to St. Peter from Jesus Christ himself.
We can begin with Christ’s declaration and leadership appointment to Peter: (Mt: 16 v 18, 19) "And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." This is a clear directive to Peter that he will lead Christ's Church as his Vicar on earth.
Furthermore; Jesus Great Commission and instruction to the apostles was to go out into the world to preach and teach the word of God with his full authority. (Mt: 28 v 18, 20) "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."
This truth and the authority to preach and teach the word of God were given to St. Peter and the apostles by Christ himself, to build up his church. The Catholic Church can solely claim this authority through apostolic succession to our present day Pope, the 268th heir to the chair of St. Peter, the Vicar of Christ and Bishop of Rome and all the ordained faithful to the magesterium of the Catholic Church.
To further help us to understand and validate this authority we can do so by studying Catholic apologetics. Apologetics is all about learning and defending our faith, we can refer to: 1 Peter 3:15 “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence… ”.
With the knowledge gained, and biblically supporting this teaching authority, we can then learn with confidence and certitude, that what the church teaches regarding doctrines and traditions is the absolute truth.
As Christians, we all want to know where the truth really can be found; unfortunately the Protestant reformation occurred some 1500 years after the death of Christ and resulted in the total rejection of the authority of the Bishop of Rome. This protest of the church was initiated by Martin Luther and others, which resulted in some heretical teaching, confusion and inconsistencies among the approximately 40,000 denominations in Protestantism today, each having differing traditions, doctrines, and interpretations of the bible in some manner, This indifference among Protestant denominations is a direct result of their man made doctrine of Sola Scriptura (the bible alone as sole rule of authority), how can they claim to have the fullness of truth with all the divisive inconsistencies among them? It is simply just not possible.
The bible does tell us where to find the truth: 1 Timothy 3:15 - "If I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth".
Therefore the bible, the word of God tells us that the church is the upholder of the truth and not the bible alone. As Catholics we have the bible and the church, the church having the authority given to her by Christ to preach and teach the truths contained within the Word of God; the Bible.
This site is dedicated to the many apologists for their tremendous work in helping to educate and defend the teaching of the Catholic Church and her Magisterium (teaching authority).
Some quick facts
-The Catholic Church is the original church founded by Jesus Christ and that it contains the fullness of truth.
